The mission of the Hanover
Schools Library program is to bring information
literacy and reading competencies to all students
with the goal of helping them to become independent,
life-long learners who are productive members of an
ever-changing global community. To that end, library
teachers collaborate with administrators and faculty
to plan and implement instructional activities that
introduce and reinforce the competencies needed for
literature appreciation and for information
retrieval and use. |

 |
Students in grades K-2 may check out
one item for up to one week. |
 |
Students in grades 3 and 4 may check
out two items for up to two weeks. |
 |
All faculty may check out items for up
to one month. |
When a material is needed for a longer period of time, students and
faculty may renew the material by returning them to the library and
requesting a renewal. If a material is not returned, the patron is
responsible to pay the replacement cost of the material.
The staff at Cedar School Library strives to maintain current selections
of print materials and up-to-date personal choice reading and curriculum
support materials. Collection development is an on-going process at the
library media center. Teacher input is highly valued during this
process; teachers are asked to present their recommendations for new
library materials to the library staff. |
