  Elementary Schools in Hanover
   
  Parents of new students are encouraged to register their children in the Hanover Public Schools by visiting or calling the appropriate school office before the start of the school year. Registering students before the school year allows for a smooth transition as each becomes familiar to Hanover Public Schools.

  Requirements for Preschool (four year-old)
   
  Parents of children entering preschool must provide the following information
   
 
  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Report of Physical Examination
    Only examinations completed WITHIN ONE YEAR OF THE DATE OF ENTRY are acceptable. Mrs. Maureen Cooke, Hanover Visiting Nurse Association (781-826-4971) can assist those unable to arrange a physical examination.
  3. A Doctor's Certification of Immunization
    The following list specifies the immunizations required by the Massachusetts Department of Health. EXACT DATES OF IMMUNIZATION MUST BE PROVIDED (month, day, year) BY YOUR PHYSICIAN.

    This information may be provided on a form of your pediatrician's choice or you may ask us for a Private Physician's Examination form.
DPT   4 doses of DPT
POLIO   3 doses
MMR   one or more doses (after 12 months of age)
Lead Test   one
Hepatitis B   3 doses
HIB   1-4
Varicella   1 or more doses* or physician's documentation
confirming the date the child had chickenpox.
Blood Lead Level including: Level amount and date

*Varicella requirement will be met if the immunization is given after 12 months of age.
Note: Although MMR, measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines are recommended to be given at 15 months of age, requirement will be met if given on or after 12 months of age.

  Preschool Community Peer Screenings
  Registration to participate in preschool community peer screenings on March 18, 2008

Appointments for the Preschool Screening on March 18th will be scheduled today if you are able to complete the forms and provide the required documentation.

The Hanover Preschool Program for 4 year old Community Peers Overview:
  • An integrated program that includes community peers
  • Three days per week for Community Peers - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Session hours are varied by school. Please visit the appropriate school website.
  • The Preschool follows the Hanover School Calendar for Holidays and vacations
  • The Curriculum is based on the Massachusetts Department of Education Preschool Frameworks and the Common Chapters of the Frameworks
  • The screening is facilitated by our preschool staff in our preschool classroom
  • Approximately 12-14 Community peers will be enrolled in the 2007-2008 program
  • Parents will be notified of acceptance at the end of March
  • The fee for the year is $1,000, with a deposit of $100, due at the time of acceptance

  Kindergarten Registration
 

We are pleased to invite the parents/guardians of children who will be five years of age before September 1, 2007 to come to your district elementary school (Center School or Cedar School) on Monday, March 19th, Wednesday, March 21st, or Thursday, March 22nd between the hours of 9:15 AM and 10:45 AM to register their children for Kindergarten for 2007-2008 school year.

We request that you bring an original birth certificate, a report of the most recent physical examination, and a doctor’s certificate of immunizations when you come to register. As part of the registration process at the school, we shall ask you to verify your residency/address in Hanover (driver’s license with Hanover address is acceptable) and ask you to complete some paper work. In an effort to expedite the registration process, we have provided you with the following forms:

  1. Registration Form
  2. Medical History Form
  3. Parent Information Sheet
  4. Developmental Questionnaire

Please complete these forms prior to registration and bring the completed forms to your district school's registration on one of the days listed above. An appointment for your youngster to be screened will be provided to you during your registration visit.
