Special Announcement |
On September 8th, the town will hold a special town
meeting to discuss a number of items, including the
consideration of a new High School. If this passes, we will
have a ballot vote on Tuesday, September 16th.
The Hanover School Building Committee has worked on this
process since 2003 and we ask that you review our work and
consider this project. The current Hanover High School was
built in 1958 and no longer meets the needs of the town. We
as a town have studied this as far back as 1978 with the
first building committee and are the first High School
project approved to move forward by the Mass School Building
Authority under their new regulations.
The Authority has validated our need, approved a new High
School project, and is working with us to provide Hanover
the best building while respecting the rising costs of
building projects. If you have read anything on this, you
are aware that the State has very limited monies and we are
lucky to be this far along in the process.
We will be holding a number of resident forums starting
Wednesday, August 20th at 6 PM and 8 PM in the Hanover High
School auditorium. This meeting will present building plans,
site plans and allow residents to review the project and
understand the need. We hope to have a project cost shortly
and look forward to moving the process forward.
