Michael Purdy
Director of Technology
Michael brings a variety of
experiences to his position
in Hanover. As an English
teacher for 18 years, he
taught a number of courses
including World Literature
Advanced Placement; American
Literature; and Classical
Mythology. As an advocate of
technology integration,
Michael was able to outfit
his English classroom in
1992 with 30 networked
computers so that his
students could write, peer
edit, and collaborate on
projects in class. After
leaving the classroom in
1996 to become a technology
integration specialist, he
trained teachers to take
advantage of the technology
at their disposal.
Michael is a member of the
MassCUE (Massachusetts
Computer Using Educators)
board of directors and chair
of its communications
committee; he is also a
founding board member of the
newly-formed Massachusetts
Educational Technology
Administrators Association (METAA).
As an adjunct faculty member
for the University of
Massachusetts Boston’s
Division of Corporate,
Continuing, and Distance
Education, he was named
“On-line Teacher of the
Year” in 2006 by the CCDE’s
Center for Technical
Education. Michael holds an
M.Ed. in Curriculum and
Instruction from Lesley
University and is presently
finishing his CAGS in
Educational Leadership. |
