File Sharing & P2P
Hanover Schools does not support or allow the use of P2P Filesharing Programs. What is a P2P Filesharing Program? Programs such as
1. Kazaa
2. Limewire
3. Bearshare
4. Napster
5. Grokster
6. Opennap
7. Audio Galaxy
8. Etc.
What is a P2P File sharing program and why is it not allowed in the schools?
P2P File sharing programs, are programs that allow a individual to search and find files such as copyrighted material like music, movies, pictures, adult content, and pirated software. Why are they blocked? Simple, these services can allow a individual to download adult content, programs, and viruses that are not allowed in a school environment.
P2P File sharing programs can also dramatically decrease the bandwidth (Internet Speed) that the schools can access the Internet. The Internet bandwidth is meant to be used by everyone equally with in the schools. It is not meant to be used for a single individuals private use only.
Please be kind, and respect others. If you are using one of these programs in the schools, it is strongly recommended that you stop. Use of these programs is strongly forbidden.
