Center School News 4/1/20

It seems impossible to me that almost three weeks have gone by since we closed school and moved into a remote learning and socially distant way of living.  If someone told me three weeks ago all the things that would change so quickly,  I would have called them crazy.

My view on these past weeks and the ones that lay ahead are that each moment we hold strong and work together is a blessing.  Whether it is as a community, a school, a family, we need each other.  The teachers and administrators at Center School (and the district) have been working to update our learning plan for each classroom and to add a website that will warehouse all of our information in one location.  This page will allow you to find things easily without being overwhelmed with emails/information, and will also give those who are looking for more academic resources a place to get those as needed.

We have received many kind emails from you that really lift our spirits and let us know you are thinking of us.  We want you to know we are thinking of you and missing our students and our school community terribly.  We have heard from you and know ourselves that there is a lot of information descending upon all of us each day and often, too much for our brains to process at one time.  While we are streamlining our communication and academic plan we want you to know we are here and available every day.  You will hear from me once a week going forward and only more if needed.  Classroom teachers will reach out daily in a predictable way and our special education staff will support your child and you as much as possible through a home learning plan.

We know that the weeks ahead may get tougher for all of us and we want to be sure that each family have what they need physically, emotionally, and educationally.  In my next message I will include access to community resources that may be helpful to families.  In the meantime, please email me if there is anything I can do to help.  I will get back to you as quickly as possible and try my very best to connect you with an answer that meets your need.

Mrs. Madden's Message for the week

Children across the country are dealing with significant changes to life as they know it.  The disappointments they are facing from cancelled events, changes in routine, and loss of time with friends and family is likely bringing up some strong emotions.  Although difficult experiences, these disappointments present an opportunity for kids to better understand their emotions, to feel validated and empowered, and to build resiliency.

Family assignment for this week

Take a few minutes and drive by Center School.  Make sure to turn into the driveway in the front of the school and look for two messages we posted on the windows for our students, their families, and our community.  Thank you to all of you who participated in the red hearts last week.  It has been nice driving through town and seeing so many hearts!

Be safe, stay well,

Mrs. DeGrenier
