Center School Opening Day News and Updates 8/26/22

Here are some updates that will help in planning for the start of the new school year. We will be sending out digital back-to-school information on Wednesday, August 31st, and paper notices on Tuesday, September 6th. Our goal is in getting this information ahead of time and in small chunks, it will help with the flurry of back-to-school information that goes out at this time of year. Student visits, Wednesday, August 31st

Teachers will be in their classrooms at the following times ready to meet and greet their students. We have scheduled times by grade level to allow for fewer crowds in the building and ample parking. We hope that this will make for a pleasant visit to stop by the school and check out your classroom, meet your teacher, find your locker, see your desk, and say hello to a few friends! The main entrance and the recess entrance (across from the large playground) will be open for you to access the building and find your child's classroom. 

  • Grade 4, 9:00 am - 9:45 am
  • Grade 3, 10:15 am - 11:00 am
  • Grade 2, 11:30 am  - 12:15 pm

School hours are from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Arrival Times and Locations

  • Car drop-off is from 8:15 am to 8:30 pm at the back of Center School (this is a one-way road) that you enter from Silver Street. You can access this road by entering via the second driveway and traveling along the building. Please be sure that there is a staff member present when you drop your child off. If you arrive after 8:30 please go around to the main entrance to drop your child off.
  • Buses drop off in a separate location behind Center School between 8:15 am and 8:30 am.

Dismissal Times and Locations

  • Car pick-up is from 2:50 pm and 3:10 pm and is located in the back of Center School (the same location as morning drop-off). This is a one-way road and to help with traffic cars may double up in line behind Center School by following the arrows in the parking lot. Please enter via the second driveway off Silver Street.
  • Buses load in a separate location behind Center School and the first round of buses pull away at 2:55 pm, with the last buses usually departing between 3:05 pm and 3:10 pm.

Bus Routes

Bus routes have been posted and are available on the school district website.

Lunch

Lunches for the 2022-2023 school year are free to all students. A menu will be available before the first day of school.

School Adjustment Counselors

We are very pleased to have 1.6 counselors available at Center School next year. We have had some staffing changes in our guidance department over the summer and invite you to stop in and meet the two new counselors during your visit next Wednesday. They will be available in the Center Cafeteria during each grade level visit. Please stop by and say hello. Our counselors are available as needed to any student in the school, at any time. If your child is scheduled for counseling services we will be reaching out to you during the first week of school to identify which counselor will be working with your child.  

Health Office

If your child has any medication or doctor's orders that are needed to start the school year, please drop them off to the school nurse, Mrs. Krall (ckrall@hanoverschools.org) during your visit to the school on Wednesday, August 31st. It is important that parents/guardians hand deliver medications and doctor orders to the nurse in person. If your child has an Individual Health Plan (IHP), please be sure to return this to the nurse prior to the first day of school. Thank you for your support!

  • Monday, September 12th - Picture Day, Grades 2-4
  • Thursday, September 22nd -Curriculum Night (parents only); 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
