Hanover Public Schools Holiday Health Update 11/7/22

Hanover Health

As the holiday season approaches, we would like to make you aware of some community resources that are available to all Hanover families who may benefit from some assistance this year. We are very pleased to report that the students and staff of our schools are very active in providing donations to both of these wonderful organizations.

  • The Hanover Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and the last Saturday of every month from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. It is located at the Sylvester School building, 495 Hanover Street. No reservation is necessary. Clients will receive a 3-day supply of groceries (primarily food, some toiletries, and paper products). In addition to regular service hours, on Saturday, November 19th, beginning at 1:00 pm, the Food Pantry will distribute items to assist with holiday meals, including grocery items and gift cards. For additional information, please send an email to hanoverfoodpantry@gmail.com, visit the Hanover Food Pantry Facebook page, or contact Food Pantry President Sally Boutin at 781-799-0053 or Operations Manager Connie Zaylor at 781-771-0397.

  • The Hanover Visiting Nurse Association Community Foundation provides monetary gift cards upon request to support families through the Winter holiday season. Please contact your child’s school nurse, school counselor, or the Hanover VNA directly, at 781-826-5999, ext. 1086, before December 7, 2022, to request a gift card. Gift cards will be delivered by U.S. Postal Service early in December.

Additionally, free COVID-19 Rapid Tests are available for any reason at your child(s) school health office. Log into Aspen and complete the “Opt-In” workflow, and then contact your child’s school nurse to request your free tests.

If anyone in your family is in need of assistance not listed above, please reach out to any of the school nurses or your child's school counselor. Often, we are able to help with finding resources for a variety of needs.

Wishing you and your family good health and happiness this holiday season.

Sincerely,

Patricia Smith, BSN, RN, NCSN
