Hanover Public Schools Transportation and Bus Routes Update 8/17/22

Hanover Bus

I am writing to provide an update on our transportation plans for the upcoming year. In recent years, our bus routes have grown longer, especially during the pandemic year when ridership was low. We have heard parent concerns that the routes have become too long in some situations. In order to make the overall ride times shorter for all students, we have made changes to the routes to have fewer bus stops in safe and centralized locations. In all cases, student safety is our number one priority.

If you do not see your exact address when we publish the bus routes in two weeks, your stop will be at the address closest to your residence. If you need help finding your stop, feel free to call Ingle Bus and we are happy to assist you.

There are certain situations for safety or health reasons that moving or adding a bus stop is necessary. A Transportation Request Form is available on the Hanover Public Schools website to make a request for a change. Any request that requires a student to cross a street before or after school will be reviewed by the Hanover Police Safety Officer. The Officer will visit the location and speak with the family involved to ensure safety for the students, and we abide by the Officer’s decision. Any requests made for convenience will not be honored.

Our routes are established with safety and efficiency for all students and families, and we appreciate your understanding. We ask that you please give our drivers and management a chance to assess each route and make initial adjustments before sending in a request for change. Any request to move/add a stop made in a previous year does not carry over and must be re-submitted. Also, please see the attached school bus safety tips flyer to remind all students of the important rules that keep everyone safe.

Sincerely,

Steve Ingle
