Important Transportation Update 2/12/21

Hanover H

On February 11, 2021, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education updated their guidelines after a review by their medical advisors and the American Academy of Pediatrics, effective upon return from February Vacation, with respect to school transportation.

Highlights

  • The COVID-19 capacity limits on elementary buses have been lifted.
  • Middle school and high school capacity limits are increased to two students per seat.
  • Emphasis on ventilation and open windows.
  • Mandatory masks.
  • All other safety regulations remain in place.

As a result, we've been able to accommodate all current requests for transportation as we phase in our return to school plan.  In order to maintain robust contact tracing, we will continue to have siblings sit together, and everyone must remain in an assigned seat.  We will add more students in available seats upon request.  If you require transportation in the future, please contact your school's main office to request a seat on the bus.  Each school will forward the request to our bus company for a bus and seat assignment.

All students must continue to wear masks on the bus, and we will certainly continue our rigorous cleaning schedule.  Do not hesitate to reach out to your building principal or myself if you have any questions or concerns.  For more information please visit, COVID-19 Guidance/On the Desktop Messages.

Please know of my best wishes for a restful vacation.

Stay well,

Thomas R. Raab, Ed.D.
Assistant Superintendent for Business and Finance
