Internet Misinformation 4/29/23

Dear HPS Community, I have been made aware of a false, anonymous Internet post that has been circling around our community from a group named “Massachusetts Informed Parents”. The post claims that the Hanover Public Schools is putting litter boxes in our bathrooms for students to use. To be perfectly clear, this post is 100% false, and this issue has never been discussed or considered at any time at HPS.

This type of reckless, anonymous, and misleading post is not only hurtful to members of our school community, but it can also be dangerous. Often, these types of rumors and messages lead to threats of violence and intimidation to school officials and other community members from bad actors across the country. 

This rumor has been circulating nationally for the past couple of years, and I hope at this point we can put it to rest here in Hanover.
