Professional Development Task Force

The Hanover Public Schools Professional Development Task Force is a district-wide team of teachers, district staff members, and administrators who determine the professional development priority focus areas, topics, schedules, and method of delivery, which will be offered by the district. Professional Development opportunities are available to all Hanover Public School employees.

The Professional Development Task Force will:

  • Align professional development and training (how is training different from PD, what is training? - see glossary) with district initiatives and teach.
  • Leverage internal resources to deliver training to their peers.
  • Create opportunities for embedded professional development (lesson study, peer observations, teacher-led sessions and modeling, coaching, and feedback/guidance).
  • Encourage the integration of digital technology that promotes student learning (we should not assume that all "technology" is effective and will promote student learning just because it is new and has been marketed well) into teachers’ daily plans by providing regular training, modeling, and support.

Goals

Utilizing the Massachusetts State Frameworks as our academic guidelines and understanding the need to educate the whole child, our overarching goal is to provide opportunities that require students to think both critically and creatively, solve complex problems, and prepare them for success in life. The overarching professional development goal for the district is to support the education of the whole child.
