Hanover High School Final Mascot Vote! 12/23/20
Our mascot selection is coming down to the wire. We are currently entertaining 3 finalists. In the very near future, Hanover will be 1 of the following 3:
- Hanover Hawks
- Hanover Huskies
- Hanover United
I want to thank everyone who submitted mascot names and logos, and I especially want to thank our Mascot Selection Committee who dedicated their time, their insights and their genuine investment throughout this process. After working through 400 name submissions and deliberating on the potential of 85 logo suggestions, we now present to you the final 3 Mascots!
Throughout our discussions, we centered most of our conversations on the following areas:
Concept
Our mascot must embody the traits and characteristics that we, as a school and community, unwaveringly uphold. We are loyal, proud, connected, decisive, strong, compassionate, protective, skilled, brave, resilient, and impressive, to name a few. These mascot choices embody these traits and characteristics.
Universality
Our mascot must be able to support all age-groups. A Hawk, a Husky, a Unity must be easily and equally embraced by our elementary students, our middle school students, and our high school students. It must easily and equitably provide relevance for our entire school community, and it must speak easily and equally to all members of the larger Hanover community. These mascot choices embody these traits and characteristics.
Aesthetics
Our mascot must possess a clear and identifiable beauty, one that’s easily communicated and displayed. There’s beauty in the grace of a Hawk, for example, beauty in the strength of a Husky, and beauty in the loyalty of being United. The potential images, renderings, and representations of each are boundless in their beauty and powerful in their potential designs. Each lends itself to a brandable beauty, and each encapsulates a shared sense of spirit that’s easily articulated through imagery.
