Accessing eBooks and Audiobooks through Boston Public Library eCard

  1. Boston Public Library eCardRegister for a Boston Public Library eCard, free to all Massachusetts residents
    1. You can access some audiobooks with a Hanover public library card, but BPL has more titles available
    2. Save the confirmation email or record your library card number and pin in a safe place
  2. Next, download the free Overdrive app onto your mobile device from the App Store
    1. For chromebooks, you can use Overdrive by adding an extension to play books
    2. For Mac computers
    3. For PCs
  3. Once in Overdrive, sign up for a free account (you can use your BPL library card #).
  4. Connect within the app to the BPL catalog by adding BPL to My Libraries.
  5. Search for the title and download if available. 
  6. Play from the bookshelf
    1. For some titles, there will be a limited number of copies available to borrow at one time. If none are available, you can place a hold and you will receive an email when it is your turn.
