Introduction & Orientation with HMS Principal Birolini Update and Zoom Link

Zoom Meeting, June 1, 2020, 5:00 PM

This is a reminder to future fifth grade families and new to HMS families that we have a virtual parent information night scheduled for tomorrow evening, June 1st at 5:00 PM.  It is customary to have a parent information night, as well as a fifth grade orientation in June and again in August.  In past years, our presentations are generally the same in both meetings. This year, the meetings will be very different.  We would like you to become familiar with HMS, meet the administrators, and hear what it would look like if we were to start school as normal in September.

So much of the June presentation will be about what the transition to middle school has looked like traditionally, as we don’t have all of the answers to what next year will look like for schools in Massachusetts.  The meeting in August will include the overall school plans, routines, mandated procedures, and all other necessary specifics for the 2020-2021 school year.  The meeting tomorrow evening will be approximately 30 minutes and will include a slide presentation and a forum of questions and answers using the Zoom Q&A section.

The student meeting will give our fourth grade students a chance to meet the HMS administration.  They will hear how their new school is an incredible place to be.  We will also go over expectations and answer student questions about lockers, homework, buses, lunch, and most importantly recess.  We will purposely keep our presentation short and make it a priority not to overwhelm them.

Our fifth grade staff really does a great job of transitioning our students to the middle school during the first couple of weeks.  This meeting is typically 20 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of questions.  For the students as well as the adults, the August meeting or meetings, will be much more informative with clear plans, routines, and procedures.

Have a great week and please contact me by email with any questions and/or concerns.

Thank you,
