Cedar Connections

Share Our Story

This section of the message is intended to share our story at Cedar School. We invite parents, guardians, and caregivers to share their stories, too, by communicating with us and one another.

Math Night

The Cedar School Math Night was a tremendous success. The event was attended by over 100 students and included opportunities for students to participate in games, test their estimation skills, and use logic to help problem solve. Thank you to Megan McBride (Math Coach K-6) and Nancy Dutton (Curriculum Director) for developing such a meaningful and engaging event for our students and families. Additionally, thank you to all of the Cedar staff who volunteered their time to support this special night.

One Book One School

The first week of One Book One School is complete! The book Fenway and the Frisbee Trick was revealed at a school-wide assembly on Monday. Every child and staff member in the building went home with a gift bag that included the book, a frisbee, and a worksheet that outlined a plan for the two weeks. We would appreciate your support at home by encouraging your child(ren) to read a chapter each night, or by reading a chapter to your child(ren). Please help us continue to get our students excited about reading and the final celebration that will happen next Friday, May 12th. There will be several big surprises on that day, including a visit to the building by the author of the book, Victoria J. Coe!

Staff Appreciation Week

We are excited about recognizing our amazing teachers and faculty next week during our Staff Appreciation Week. We truly feel as though we have the best staff in the world, so this week is very important to our school community. The Cedar PTA has been working hard behind the scenes to prepare a plan for next week, which includes a different way of recognizing our staff each day. Please join us on Sunday, May 7th, to Chalk the Walk outside of Cedar School to get the week started. Students and families will have the opportunity to decorate the sidewalks around the building with sidewalk chalk. We are looking forward to spreading positive messages and pictures to show our appreciation to the staff. Please know that there is not a designated time for this event. Although there will be some chalk available, we encourage families to bring their own. If it rains on Sunday, the event will be canceled. There is a link provided below with more information concerning Staff Appreciation Week.

Important Cedar Information

We will have a Kindergarten Informational Night for parent(s)/guardian(s) of incoming Kindergarten students on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm. This will be an opportunity to visit the building and learn about your child’s transition into Kindergarten in the fall. We ask that this be an adult-only event.

The Cedar PTO will be looking for volunteers for Field Day. We will be sharing out a sign-up genius next week.

Incoming Kindergarten students will have the opportunity to meet their classmates and take a ride on the school bus during our Kindergarten Playdate on Thursday, August 24th. Please mark your calendars if you have an incoming Kindergarten student.
