Cedar School News and Updates 8/19/22

I hope that you are having a wonderful summer. Ms. Clements and I enjoyed meeting so many students and families yesterday during the Meet and Greet. We shared similar feelings with many of the students who reported feeling “excited and ready” for the start of the new year! As we get closer to the end of August, I would like to share some important information with you knowing that school is right around the corner. 

At this time, you should have received information from Hanover Public Schools alerting you that the Aspen Portal is open to view teacher assignments. If you have not received that notice or you’re still having difficulty logging into the portal, please reach out to the Cedar main office at 781-878-7228. 

Below is a list of some important dates to get us started this year. We have intentionally scheduled the Kindergarten and Preschool student visits in two sessions to allow for fewer people in the building and ample parking while the first-grade classes are in session. Please know that teachers will be in their classrooms ready to meet and greet the children at the designated times listed below. Parents/guardians must stay at Cedar School during the student visits. 

  • Thursday, August 25th - Kindergarten Playdate (Please see attached)
  • Wednesday, August 31st, Grade 1 Student Visits, 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm
  • Tuesday, September 6th - Grade 1, First Day of School and Bus
  • Tuesday, September 6th - Kindergarten Student Visits
    • Session 1: First initial of last name A-L, 10:00 am - 11:00 am
    • Session 2: First initial of last name M-Z, 12:00 pm -1:00 pm
  • Wednesday, September 7th - Kindergarten, First Day of School and Bus
  • Wednesday, September 7th - Preschool Student Visits
    • AM Class (First initial of last name A-L), 9:00 am - 9:30 am
    • AM Class (First initial of last name M-Z), 9:30 am - 10:00 am
    • PM Class (First initial of last name A-L), 10:00 am - 10:30 am
    • PM Class (First initial of last name M-Z), 10:30 am - 11:00 am
  • Thursday, September 8th - Preschool, First Day of School
  • Tuesday, September 13th - Parent/Guardian Curriculum Night (more information to follow), 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
  • Thursday, September 22nd - Cedar Picture Day

Additional Reminders

  • School lunch will again be provided to all Hanover Public School students for free. More information about the lunch program will be shared next week.
  • School supply lists. These items are optional, please be assured that all necessary supplies will be provided in each classroom. 
  • Bus routes will be made public in two weeks. 
  • This last item is for parents/guardians who are interested in volunteering in any capacity this year. The CORI/SORI process should be completed no later than Thursday, September 15, 2022. These forms should be completed at the Cedar main office. Please know that you can check the expiration date of your forms through the Aspen Portal. If you have any questions about this process, don't hesitate to get in touch with the office at 781-878-7228. 

Please anticipate another email from me next Friday concerning additional information, including information about arrival and dismissal at Cedar.
