Cedar School Welcome Back from February Vacation 2/23/21

We hope you and your child are enjoying a wonderful return from February vacation. We are thrilled to be back at Cedar!

We are writing to let you know about a few changes to our remote Wednesdays. First, you will notice tomorrow that there is only one specialist lesson on your child’s Seesaw choice board. This enhanced physical education lesson will be the only specialist lesson your child will complete. With a few exceptions, there will be one specialist lesson per week going forward. We realize that the assignments in reading and math are getting more rigorous as the year progresses, so we hope this change encourages maximum participation in the specialist lesson and provides additional time to complete the other assignments on the choice board. In addition, starting next week we will be including a “Principal’s Challenge” math activity in the Wednesday routine. This challenge will be sent to students via Seesaw. Mrs. McLaughlin and I can’t wait! Finally, in celebration of the Cedar School’s 20th Annual “Screen Time Out, Physical Activity & Play Week” and the “National Day of Unplugging”, next Wednesday’s schedule will be almost completely screen-free for the Cedar students. We will be conducting our regularly scheduled Zoom instruction, but the remainder of the day’s assignments will be completed without the use of a device. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon!

Finally, please visit our Cedar Celebration Week newsletter at https://www.smore.com/1hfxr-cedar-celebration-week to learn about the special events we have planned for next week including Read Across America, Screen Time Out, Physical Activity and Play, the 100th day of school, and the launch of our One Book, One School project. It is going to be an amazing week at Cedar School!

Have a great afternoon!

Sincerely,

Mike Oates & Ellen McLaughlin
