Preschool Philosophy
The Cedar School preschool program fosters an environment of inclusion, respect, and the belief that every child is a capable, curious learner. We offer a child-centered environment that values each child’s unique strengths and learning style. Our classrooms promote exploration, creativity, and independence while supporting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Through intentional planning and differentiated instruction, we ensure equitable opportunities for all children to learn and thrive. Collaboration among families and our multidisciplinary team of highly qualified professionals fosters a nurturing community that empowers children to build confidence, form meaningful relationships, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Preschool Faculty
Our preschool team is composed of dedicated, highly trained professionals who specialize in early childhood education and child development. This collaborative team may include:
- Special Education Teacher
- Speech-Language Pathologist
- Occupational Therapist
- Physical Therapist
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst
- School Psychologist
- Education Support Professional
Together, our staff designs and implements inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The team conducts screenings and individualized evaluations, and provides early detection, intervention, and referrals when needed to support each child’s growth and success.
Peer Enrollment
Our peer model fosters a community of inclusion and collaboration, where children learn from and with one another in a setting that values every voice and ability. Peer registration typically takes place from January to February. In the Spring, newly registered peers have the opportunity to visit the classrooms and participate in a screening process. To qualify as a peer, children must be 3 years old by September 1st. They should ideally be potty-trained and able to demonstrate developmentally appropriate skills for their age. Transportation to and from school is arranged by caregivers. If the number of applicants for our peer slots exceeds available spaces, a waitlist will be maintained.
Referral
- If your child participates in an early intervention program, please have your service coordinator contact the Cedar School main office.
- If you are concerned about your child's development, please contact the Cedar School main office regarding monthly screenings for special needs.
Screening
Additional information will be provided at a later date and sent to the email address provided at registration.
