Center School Grade 4 Blue Man Group Field Trip 1/9/24
We are excited to share with you an upcoming field trip for our grade 4 students, which will take place this March. Our grade 4 students will be seeing the Blue Man Group show at the Charles Playhouse Theatre in Boston. What is unique about this experience is that the Center School grade 4 students and staff will be the only audience in the theater for a private performance. Due to the size of our grade four class (228 students), we fill the theater, and the Blue Man performance will be performed for just us!
Initially, we worried that the cost of the trip (ticket+bus+nurse=$60.00) would be more than we would want to ask our families to pay. We did some grant writing to the Mass Cultural Council and the Hanover Cultural Council to seek funds to defray the cost of this trip. We were very excited to receive notification that we were awarded a grant by the Hanover Cultural Council in the amount of $6500.00 towards purchasing tickets to the Blue Man Group performance. This generous grant, combined with a donation from Shutterfly, helped us reduce the trip's cost to $23.00 per student.
Why Blue Man Group? This theatrical experience will connect science, technology, art, and music standards all into one performance that will highlight sound, rhythm, visual and sound effects, dance, and color into one amazing performance. We that hope that this trip will not only be a learning experience for our students a memorable one for them to enjoy together as a grade!

Highly educational too, with its unconventional blend of bold music, impactful imagery and wildly comical social commentary. Forget the ordinary and free your students' imagination. Give them an outing unlike anything they’ve ever seen, heard or experienced before!
Students will bring home a permission slip tomorrow (Wednesday, January 10th), so please check backpacks and return your permission form/payment by Thursday, January 18th.
Field Trip
Blue Man Group, Friday, March 22, 2024, Charles Playhouse, Boston, Massachusetts. Students will eat lunch at school and the trip will be approximately from 9:00 am to 12:40 pm, including travel. In addition to the classroom teachers, five staff members plus one chaperone per class will be attending the field trip.
