Center School Grade 4 Families Update 5/11/22

My name is Daniel Birolini and I am the Principal of Hanover Middle School. It is with great excitement that I connect with and welcome the parents/caregivers of next year’s 5th grade class. This is the time of year when 4th grade students and their families begin to think about the transition to middle school. Please let me start by saying that we have a talented staff who are phenomenal at welcoming the incoming 5th graders each fall.  Most importantly, the students really enjoy their time and the many great experiences here at HMS.

Over the next month, we will meet with the teachers and staff of Center School, review the information provided by you, and begin the scheduling process for the 5th grade. On Wednesday, June 1st, we will be holding a parent information night at 6:00 pm in the HMS cafetorium.  On this evening, parents and caregivers will have an opportunity to meet with the middle school administration, receive a brief overview of middle school life, and have time for questions and answers. If you can’t make this date, there will be an additional but very similar parent meeting on Wednesday, August 24th.

Our future students will be touring HMS on the mornings of either Thursday, June 2nd, or Friday, June 3rd.  Students will meet our administration, go over expectations, tour their new school, and may even get to see a brief performance from the HMS band. Our goal is for the students to feel comfortable and excited about HMS after their visit.

Every year we ask the parents and caregivers of incoming students to provide us with a little information about their child. Please complete our Grade 5 Student Information Form. We take the information that parents and caregivers provide and the information provided by the 4th grade teachers to balance classrooms and teams accordingly to meet the needs of all students.

I am really excited about the opportunity to get to know and work with your children. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at 781-871-1122, or by email at dbirolini@hanoverschools.org.
