Center School News 2/5/20

Today a piece of parchment paper caught fire in the kitchen during second grade lunch.  It was immediately extinguished by our cafeteria staff and noticed by a number of second grade students who were in the lunchroom at the time.  There were no fire alarms, smoke, or danger to anyone in the cafeteria.  By law, a public school is required to notify the Fire Department of any fire in the building.  Hanover Fire Department was called immediately to Center School and conducted an investigation.  The kitchen was deemed safe.  There was very little talk amongst our students but we wanted you to have this information in the event it becomes a topic of conversation this evening.

As always we are grateful to the Hanover Fire Department and Officer John Voekel for their continued support and presence in our school and community. Our students are familiar with these first responders and I believe this is why our students have confidence and feel safe when emergency situations arise.

A  reminder that Sylvester School is used from time to time for emergency drills and classroom instruction.  Today, Sylvester School hosted local law enforcement for a day of classroom instruction and filled the parking lot with police vehicles and private cars.  If there is an issue that arises on or near our school grounds that was not planned I will communicate with you through school messenger.

If you have any questions or need for follow-up, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
