Center School News 7/12/20

I hope this weekly update finds you all safe and well.

Over the past week, we have been looking at the feasibility of Center School for in-person learning. The classroom spaces, lunch space, spaces for working with students with IEP plans, recess, and options for health office/isolation space.  We have made great progress in looking at utilizing all aspects of the new school building and its furniture to meet the state guidelines for in-person learning should that be the safest plan for moving forward.  A few parents have emailed me questions or ideas regarding the upcoming school year. Please continue to do so.  It is helpful to hear from you and it allows us to think of things we may not have thought of in the midst of planning for the many components that we need to consider this Fall.  I have attached the FAQ from the state that was released on Friday about the reopening of schools in the Fall.  It is a good resource that answers many of the questions we all have to the degree possible at this time.

It is usually around this time that we begin to get questions about supplies and other details for returning to school.  Please hold on buying supplies for in person learning as we continue to work on our classroom plans. Currently we are planning for individual supply boxes for each student to eliminate sharing of supplies and teachers have begun to identify and purchase those materials.

If you have a Chromebook at home that you chose to keep for the summer, we will be asking you to return it to the school sometime in mid-August for maintenance.  More details will follow.

We still have a little over 6 weeks of summer left.  Please encourage your child to take part in the summer learning plan posted on the school website.  This is a great opportunity for them to continue their reading and math work in preparation for September.

Please stay well,

Mrs. DeGrenier
Principal
