Center School News and Updates 11/14/22

Thank you for all of the food and monetary donations you sent in last week for the Hanover Food Pantry Thanksgiving Drive. Our boxes are overflowing with the requested items and we collected over $500 dollars to purchase supermarket gift cards. Thank you to Melissa Barlit, who organized our faculty in the collection of items to make gift bags of special holiday items (festive paper goods, relish tray items, candy, gravy, crackers, and holiday decor) that families can enjoy as they gather for Thanksgiving. Thirty gift bags will be donated to the Hanover Food Pantry, along with the food/gift card donations from students, making a very special holiday for many Hanover families. We are very proud of the generosity of the entire Center School community and thank you for your kindness.

Our Veterans Day ceremony was held on Wednesday to honor all who serve or have served in the military. Mrs. Monahan worked with students in IT on Veterans projects. She gathered photos from students and their families to create a Wall of Heroes that tells an incredible story of those who served and how they are connected to the students and staff at Center School. Mrs. Wilson worked with all grades to bring two musical selections to the ceremony that were performed by our school-wide chorus. Our Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts lined the road to the ceremony, holding flags and welcoming students as they arrived at the memorial site for the ceremony. The Vox Chorus and Hanover High School Band also performed. Our Hanover Fire Department Honor Guard and Hanover Police Department Honor Guard participated in the ceremony as well. Student speakers included James Duggins, Kate McGarry, Lucas O’Connell, and Claire Estabrooks-Johansen. The ceremony and all of our Veterans Day tributes can be viewed on the following links shared by Mrs. Monahan on Friday. Thank you to all of these groups and individuals who contributed to the beautiful ceremony held that morning. A very special thank you to Mrs. Monahan and Mrs. Wilson for their work in putting together the ceremony so that our students could have a deeper understanding of the importance of Veterans Day and the service and bravery of all of our Veterans.

A reminder to students that the weather is getting colder now and whenever possible we will be going outside for recess, PE, and other activities during the week. Students are reminded to come dressed for the weather including coats, hats, etc. Students are practicing for the upcoming Drumstick Dash and sneakers are the safest footwear for running the course.

Have an amazing week,

Mrs. DeGrenier
Principal
