Center School News and Updates 12/6/23

We continue to enjoy so many great learning experiences at school in each grade level and specialist classes. We are particularly excited about an upcoming event that will take place in Boston next week. It is the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party (1773-2023). The United States will commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 2023. Dubbed by John Adams as the “most magnificent movement of all,” the Boston Tea Party is one of the nation’s most iconic events and one that propelled America down the road to revolution. In honor of this upcoming anniversary, The Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum has partnered with multiple organizations, communities, and schools to create a series of collaborative and commemorative programming - culminating in a grand-scale reenactment on the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 2023. Center School's very own third grade classes have collected tea over the past two weeks, which will be included in this live reenactment of the Boston Tea Party.

The week of December 4th-8th is the National Week for Inclusive Schools. This year’s theme, “Draw Me In,” provides an opportunity to strengthen our commitment to inclusive education. Participating in art provides a pathway to self-discovery, and sharing art opens doors to understanding and respecting different ways of thinking. During the next few weeks, we will be working on grade-level murals, reading literature books, and talking about the many ways we are growing an inclusive and respectful school community.

The first snow of the season is a reminder to come prepared for outdoor recess with boots, hats, gloves, and coats. Students were excited to get outside today and have time in even the smallest amount of snow!

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs. DeGrenier
