Center School News and Updates 4/11/24

It has been a busy and great few weeks it has been at Center School!   

• Second graders performed and shared their Culture Show for family and friends
• The Home Run Derby is underway in all grades
• Fourth graders had their March Madness Math Basketball Game! WOW!
• Third graders have been on their Boston Freedom Trail field trip
• We participated by performing our songs and displaying our artwork at the district Arts Festival
• Holly Hill Farm is back and we started our spring planting this week
• Fourth graders saw Blue Man Group
• And so much more learning and fun, thanks to our teachers, specialists, and support staff!

Our amazing food service staff provides a wonderful lunch each day. They are to be applauded for their effort in rolling out new foods for our students to try. Imagine getting over 500 students to try something new! Roasted chickpeas, frozen banana yogurt pops, chicken broccoli ziti, Caesar, Greek, and Caprese salad, and hummus, just to name a few! Thank you for going above and beyond and making lunch a good part of our students' day!

MCAS assessments for ELA are wrapping up for grades 3 and 4 and we appreciate the hard work that our students put forward on their testing days.  We will be taking our MCAS math assessments in May (see dates below). Anyone who missed ELA MCAS this week will have make-up sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday after vacation.

It is time to gather all of your loose change, clean the dryer, scour the car, and look under the couch. Penny Wars are coming after April vacation! All funds raised through Penny Wars will go towards paying for our Sports Day event in June, including bouncy equipment!
