Center School News and Updates 5/8/23

Last week our partnership with Holly Hill Farm continued when all grade 2 students planted carrots in our courtyard garden boxes last Monday and Friday. Over the next few weeks, grade 4 students will plant potatoes; grade 3 students will plan “Three Sisters” and Grade 2 students will plant sunflowers. We can’t wait to “see how our garden grows”!

Thank you to Mrs. Harmon, our PTA volunteers, and all of the parents/guardians that donated to Teacher Appreciation Week. We celebrated with a “Cinco de Maya” themed luncheon on Friday, and more treats are planned for the beginning of next week. Thank you for your kindness and support!

Our first week of the “stocking up for summer”  donations was amazing! We filled 28 reusable shopping bags with the donations collected. Ms. Macomber’s class will walk the bags over to the food pantry on Monday morning. Week 2 of our summer stock-up begins tomorrow with the collection of fruit cups, canned fruit, and chips (any kind, including popcorn and snack packs).  Each Monday, a different class will walk our donations over to the food pantry. Student love dropping off their donations and putting a ray of sunshine in our lobby windows. Thank you for your generosity!

The last day of penny wars is Monday (May 8^th) morning. The students (and teachers) have had a lot of fun collecting the coins, and the race is on to see who will have the ‘most money’ in their jar and who will have the most ‘pennies’ in their jar! Stay tuned for the results later next week!
