Center School Penny Wars Reminder 4/23/24
As a reminder, Penny Wars will start on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
Clean out the junk drawer and empty the car cup holder! Penny Wars are on!!
How does it work?
Classrooms compete against each other by collecting pennies in big jugs. The classroom with the most pennies at the end of Penny Wars wins an extra recess and the honor of being the "2024 Penny Wars" winning class this year!
Sounds simple?
Not so fast! Students can put silver coins or one dollar bills into another homeroom's jug at their grade level to increase that classes total amount of money. The goal, however, is to have the most amount of pennies which equal one point. Silver coins or dollars are deducted from the jug based on their value (i.e. a quarter = 25).
The penny is the only coin with a positive point value in Penny Wars. If you are looking to reign supreme, fill your classroom jug with as many pennies as possible. Be strategic and use your silver coins and dollars for another classes jug to decrease their value.
Where does the money go?
The money raised from Penny Wars will go to paying for the bouncy equipment for Sports Day and any left over funds will help us restock our recess equipment!
When is it?
Penny Wars begins Wednesday, April 24th, and ends Friday, April 26th.
