Center School Volunteer Update 9/29/22

Center School Council Election

Thank you to the families who volunteered to fill the open parent seat on the Center School Council. The responses submitted by the candidates are shared in the email and at the bottom of the email is a link to vote for one candidate. The form for voting will close on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 10:00 am.

The nomination form asked the same two questions of each candidate and their responses are shared below:

  1. Why would you like to serve on the Center School Council?
  2. What qualifications or experiences do you bring to the School Council?

Michelle Hill

I would like to be more involved in Center School. Working collaboratively with the administration on educational goals to include curriculum building and budgeting is something I would be interested in. I have the perspective of a parent who has had children attend Center School before moving on to Hanover Middle School, a current student, and two future students. I work well in groups and independently. I think I would be a valuable asset to the team dynamic.

I am very organized and hardworking. I can multitask. I am the mother of 5 children, 2 whom have experienced Center school, 1 currently enrolled and 2 to follow in the next two years. I am the PTA President for Cedar school and substitute within the Hanover schools. As PTA president I work within a budget to bring programming and enrichment activities to staff and students. I am able to speak on behalf of various perspectives of the school community. My educational background is in Early Childhood Education from Bridgewater State College. I have previous professional experience working at a childcare center.

Stephanie Monteagudo

I enjoy being involved in the education of our children and respect the educators and administrators in the school system. I think Hanover is an amazing town for education and I'd like to be involved as much as possible.

I do not have any professional experience in education, but I own a health office so I am great at multi-tasking, documentation and letter writing, and enjoy being part of a community. Since my children have entered the school system, it has ignited my passion for helping and being a part of my children's' educational experiences. I've only been a "room parent" twice and attend as many field trips as I am able; I am responsible and believe I am respected by other parents. I am thoughtful of everyone's needs and wants for their children/students. Thank you for considering me.

Carrie Walecka

I have a child who has been at Center for a year and has two more left and I would love to be able to contribute to helping amplify the incredible offerings of the school even more. We have been lucky to have had such an incredible experience thus far and I think it would be great to help ensure that all parents and students feel this way and are being represented at this level. I have been able to offer my free time on the sports fields as a coach and on the Hanover Permanent Scholarship Fund as a member of the committee and giving back to the community that I grew up in and now parent in is something that I find extremely rewarding and valuable.

I am Chief People Officer in the high tech industry and while that does not immediately translate to children in elementary school, I know what it takes to succeed and how to identify and cultivate talent for the future. My professional life is 100% focused on bringing out the best in individuals and driving towards optimal outcomes while being incredibly focused on the experience - which is how I also think a child's education should be thought of. My child is on a 504 plan at the school for her ADHD so I am aware that the experiences need to be varied but still all maintain a high level of quality and integrity, and I think this understanding and awareness is also important to have represented in a role like this.
