School News 1/1/19

Beginning Wednesday January 2, 2019 all students who attend Sylvester School will now be officially moved in to Center School and complete the 2018-2019 school year in the new Center School.  This includes our SCORE program, which will now be housed in Room 1 at Center School for all before, after, and enrichment programs.  In order to make our mornings and afternoons go as smoothly as possible we have put a plan in place for arrival and dismissal to accommodate having all students arrive and depart from one building.

To assist with our new arrival and dismissal procedures the first days back, police details will be on site to help direct traffic.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Parent drop off 8:15-8:30 and Parent pick-up 2:45-3:00

  • Enter the last school driveway at 65 Silver Street (the one after the main entrance loop). This is a two-way driveway.  Please stay to the right coming and going.
  • Proceed straight until you reach the end of the building and turn right along the building
  • Cars will begin to line up along the sidewalk along the building
  • Students should be dropped off or loaded into the right side of the cars ONLY for safety reasons.
  • Cars will then proceed out the one-way road to Route 139.  You will be able to turn right or left onto route 139.

SCORE

The SCORE program is housed in Center School beginning 1/2/19. 

Drop off and pick up for SCORE is in the back of the building at the dedicate entrance marked SCORE. 

  • Enter the parking lot off Silver Street and proceed to the back of the building.  
  • The last door on your right (end of building/past gym) has stairs as well as a handicap ramp.  This is the SCORE entrance.  
  • Please park and go in the SCORE entrance to sign your child in or out for the day.  
  • Parking is available at the door and there is a security buzzer for the staff to let you in to this area of the building.
  • Please exit out the two-way driveway to Silver Street.

Kindergarten SCORE

This program will now be housed in the SCORE classroom and use the drop off and pick-up entrance for SCORE.

Enrichment

All enrichment programs will now be held at Center School for the remainder of the school year.  

  • Pick up will be in the back parking lot at the ramp door.  
  • The ramp door is the door on the right prior to the gym.  If you go to the SCORE door you went down too far.  
  • Parking is available in this area and you are asked to go to the door to meet your child.
  • You may exit out the two-way driveway onto Silver Street.

Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival time for school is 8:15-8:30 AM.  Arrival after 8:30 AM is considered tardy.  We ask that you park in a parking space in the front of the building and walk your child to the main office and sign them in to school.  Students may not be dropped off and left unattended in the parking lot. 

Dismissal times for both schools begins at 2:55 PM.  The driveway will open up at 2:50 PM for those who wish to get in the car line early.  All students are dismissed by 3:10 PM.  Should you arrive late, your child will be waiting in the main office and you are asked to park in the front parking lot and come in to sign them out. Please call the main office (781-826-2631, ext "0") if you realize that you are not able to make the pick-up time.

If you need to dismiss your child early or from the health office:

  • Park in the front parking spaces in the main entrance loop and report to the main office to sign your child out of school

Thank you for supporting our arrival and dismissal plans.  As we settle into the new year we will make adjustments as needed to ensure the safety of all of our students during the busiest times of the day.
