School News 10/22/18

This week Top Secret Science returns to work with each grade  on science standards relevant to the current grade level.  We are pleased to have Scientist Michael work with our students completing 4-6 hands on experiments during the session.  Please be sure to ask your child to tell you or better yet show you what they learned this week.  They will leave the 60-90 minute science class with a bag of hands on items to replicate the experiments they did and what they learned.

  • Monday-Grade 1
  • Tuesday-Kindergarten
  • Wednesday-Grade 2
  • Thursday-Grade 4
  • Friday-Grade 3

Many of our students (and their principal) were excited to see the Red Sox head to the World Series and the buzz was all around school on Friday.  We will cheer on the Red Sox team by having two consecutive spirit days on Tuesday and Wednesday as the World Series kicks off at Fenway Park.  Red Sox gear or colors are welcome!  Hats will be allowed in school on those days!  We ask to hold on the face paint.  And of course we welcome all LA Dodger fans to join in the fun!

Thank you for your support of our book fair last week.  It was a great success and we thank you for your attendance and to all of our PTA volunteers for running the fair all week long!

Reminders

  • Grade 4 field trip on Monday
  • Parent/Teacher conferences are Tuesday 10/23 from 1:15-3:00.

Building project update:  Paving work and lining was completed over Columbus Day weekend .  We are pleased to open up the loop in front of the school and the parking lot adjacent to the loop (just below) for event and parent parking.  Please do not go through chain link fence as that will bring you into the construction site and we have limited that area to construction vehicles only.

We hope to see the second playground completed this week. Once this happens we will close the current playground so they can complete work on the ground covering of the current playground.  I will keep you posted, but am sure the students will have lots to say about this change.  It will be a short break and outdoor recess will still be able to happen. We are working quickly to get all playground work done and have both playgrounds fully open before it gets too cold.

Have a great week and "Go Sox"!
