School News 11/5/18

I am hoping that you had a fun Halloween!  The students looked great in their costumes and thank you for sending them to school in all their Halloween glory!  I am not sure who had more fun dressing up the students or the staff!  The week and month ahead is busy and has some changes to our normal schedule so I thought it would be helpful to send out some reminders to help you plan for the upcoming week and beyond.  Attached is the November calendar and a notice from our food service staff about a special holiday lunch they will be serving in the cafeteria on 11/8.

• Trivia Night, scheduled for Monday November 5th has been postponed and will be rescheduled after that holidays.
• Reminder:  No school on Tuesday November 6th for students.
• Picture retakes are Wednesday 11/7.
• Holiday lunch in the cafeteria with guests servers on Thursday 11/8
• Grade 3 field trip to Plymouth Plantation on Friday 11/9

Each class has planned an activity for American Education Week and parents are invited to attend.  If you are unable to make it, we would be happy to welcome a grandparent or other relative into the class to join the activity.  The days and times are listed on the November calendar.

Important Calendar Changes for November

• Monday November 12th - No school in honor of Veteran's Day.
• Tuesday November 20th is a full day of school.  
  • Half day Kindergarten students will take the bus home at 1pm.  
  • Full day Kindergarten students and grades 1-4 will take the bus home at 3pm.  Lunch is served.
• Wednesday, November 21st is a half day of school.  All students will take the neighborhood bus home at 12:00.  No lunch will be served.

PTA Reminders

Parents Night Out - Parents Night Out is scheduled for Thursday, November 8th from 8 pm- midnight.  Tickets are available at https://www.hanoverpta.org/parents-night-out.html.  We will have raffle items and a silent auction that evening as well as entertainment by Jim Plunkett.  If you have a raffle or auction item to donate, please contact Kelly McCarthy at zekethebeagle@comcast.net or email me at katedauphinais@hotmail.com.  We hope you will all join us for a fun night out!

Direct Donation Campaign - The direct donation campaign is still going on.  This is your opportunity to make a donation to the PTA at Center Sylvester and have 100% of the proceeds used by the Center Sylvester PTA.  Please give if you can and know that any amount helps us plan all the fun events for our children and fund things like Top Secret Science!  You can give online at https://www.hanoverpta.org/hpta-donation-fundraiser.html or by using the attached form.
