Hanover Middle School Welcome Back Newsletter 8/24/22

It is hard to believe that we are just two short weeks away from our amazing students entering the doors of Hanover Middle School. Shortly, students will be learning in their classrooms, playing in the gym, socializing in the cafeteria, and taking advantage of everything that the middle school has to offer. HMS has been busy all summer with FACE camps and courses which ended last week. Our administrative team is coming off of a few productive weeks which included training, planning with our department heads, and planning for the new teacher training that will be happening this week. There are so many exciting things about the 2022-2023 school year; from preparing to have our students back, to the addition of our new ELA curriculum, some new cosmetic work in the classrooms, and enough computers for all students. It is going to be a great year!

Tonight, August 24, 2022, we are happy to welcome our incoming 5th grade parents and parents who are new to HMS to our information night at 6:00 pm in our cafetorium. This evening is designed so that families get a chance to meet our administrative team, hear what the middle school is about, and ask any questions. If you attended the information night in June, it is going to be very similar. The main difference will be the questions that families ask. I will also be a bit more specific with the pick-up and drop-off routines. These explicit directions and routines will also be sent home in an email. It is always a great night! Parents/Guardians feel better and get excited about sending their kids to Hanover Middle School.

Exciting News, Chorus could be back at HMS! We may have an opportunity to bring chorus back. It is a little bit late to be taking on this endeavor but I do believe that it is worth it. This would be in addition to our amazing band and strong music programming. We will be sending out a Google form to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who wish to be in chorus. Chorus is a full-year course similar to how we schedule band, it is a year-long exploratory class. It is a great opportunity that we have missed out on over the last two years. Please have a conversation with your student and be on the lookout for the Google form.

Bus Routes are out! Steve Ingle from Ingle bus company has been working to finalize bus routes and make sure that every student has an opportunity to get to school safely and on time. The routes may be accessed by clicking the link below. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to our main office and we will assist you.

As the summer comes to a close, we are putting the finishing touches on our building, finalizing schedules (students get schedules on the first day), and hiring for our last few positions. We are really excited about our new staff and will be sharing more about them in the September Letter from the Principal. Our teachers kick off this year with two professional days before the holiday weekend to prepare for our students and set the tone for the school year. We welcome back our students at 7:30 am on Tuesday morning, September 6th. Please take a look at the upcoming events on this page to see what is going on at HMS. It is an exciting time of year and I look forward to seeing our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade leaders back at HMS as well as getting to know our new 5th graders and their families. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any and all questions, concerns, or ideas!

Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation!
