Math Olympiads Opportunity

Hanover Middle School is proud to announce a great opportunity for all of our students, but most specifically our math enthusiasts.  We are offering an after school program called Math Olympiads.  This program is free to all families.

Math Olympiads is an international Math program for students who love problem solving.  The problems are high level and engaging for students.  This is not a math help session but an enrichment for students who love math.  Students work on contests individually during contest weeks (5 total contests) and practice and refine their skills in between those contests.  The program starts in October and runs until the middle of March.  If you student would like to join the program, they will be able :

  • To stimulate enthusiasm and a love for Mathematics
  • To introduce important Mathematical concepts
  • To teach major strategies for problem solving
  • To develop Mathematical flexibility in solving problems
  • To strengthen Mathematical intuition
  • To foster Mathematical creativity and ingenuity
  • To provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges

There are two different math teams:

  • Grade 5 and 6 is run by Lori McKenna starting THURSDAY, October 18, 2018, Room 124
  • Grade 7 and 8 is run by Christine Judge  starting WEDNESDAY, October 17, 2018,  Room 20

It starts at 2:15 PM and goes until 3:00 PM.  The teacher will share with the group all the meeting dates at the first meeting and if the group has to be cancelled for any reason it will be announced throughout the school.

Be sure to sign your child up by October 13, 2018.
