Science Fair
It's Time for the Center School Annual Center Science Fair!
Fair Information
Who: All Center students in grades 2 through 4
Dates: February 27, 2024, and February 29, 2024
Times: 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm and 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Place: Center School, 65 Silver Street Street, Hanover, MA 02339
Notes: Projects will be taken home with the students on the night of the fair.
Purpose
To encourage a greater understanding and love of science through hands-on experiments. No idea is too simple! This is a non-competitive opportunity for encouraging greater interest in science and research. There will be a panel of volunteers and administrators asking each student scientist about their projects.
Project
Each participant will identify a project to present. Their project should be about a science-related topic and should answer a question. A list of possible projects is attached, but any science-related idea or invention may be used. Science fair resource material is available at the Center School Library, the John Curtis Library, and on various websites (search for science fair projects). Interactive displays are encouraged so that students can enjoy demonstrating their projects and allowing others to try them. Students can work alone or with a partner.
Display Guidelines
On the night of the fair, participants will present their findings on a project board. Project boards and actual experiments/inventions will be displayed and demonstrated at the fair. They should not exceed four feet in width and three feet in depth unless previously arranged with the Science Fair Coordinators. Their projects should be neat and clearly presented. It should be the student's own work, demonstrate their ideas, and reflect their creative talents. The project board should explain their project through pictures, diagrams, and other information they choose to include. If possible, their display should be interactive to enable students to see and understand their work.
