Hanover Middle School Opening Day 9/4/23

Welcome Back Students 2023

As I am writing this correspondence, sitting in the eerily silent main lobby, I find myself envisioning the excitement and noise of our students on their first day of school. It is easily the most exciting and anticipated time of year. The floors and hallways are sparkling and our teachers have their classrooms ready and in top shape. Hanover Middle School is ready for all of our talented students to be back, learning, and having fun. The 2023-2024 school year is going to be a great year for our students and staff.

We are open for business tomorrow morning. Please see the drop-off and pick-up procedures on page 2. Students can be dropped off at HMS as early as 7:00 am and we would like all students in the building by 7:35 am (every day). On day one, our 5th grade students will be directed to the cafeteria, where they will find their homeroom and homeroom teacher (just as they have practiced at the meet and greet). All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who arrive before 7:30 am will report to the gymnasium before we send them off to their homerooms.

HMS Morning Drop-off

Early drop-off will be from 7:00-7:15 am when students arrive they will enter the front of the building and go to the cafeteria. After 7:15 am, cars will be directed to the back of the building for drop-off where staff members will greet students and then head to the cafeteria. Please pull all the way up to minimize drop-off time for all. Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria and head to homerooms at 7:25 am.

  • Bus students will arrive at HMS from approximately 7:15 am to 7:30 am.
  • We strongly encourage families to ride the bus to school every day. This will significantly reduce the amount of traffic and your morning commute time.

HMS Afternoon Pick-up

Buses leave HMS at 2:15 pm.
Cars picking up are NOT allowed into HMS before 2:15 pm.
Please follow these rules, they are crucial to getting all kids home safely.
After buses leave, all cars are permitted to enter HMS.

  • Families with 6th and 8th graders will pick up their students in front of HMS.
  • Families with 5th and 7th graders will pick up their students in the back of HMS.
  • If families have siblings in different grades, all siblings will be picked at the youngest sibling's location.
HMS Traffic Pattern
It is an amazing time of year and I look forward to seeing our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade leaders back at HMS as well as getting to know our new 5th graders and their families. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any and all questions, concerns, or ideas!

It all starts tomorrow. Have a great year!
