Educational Showcase for Students and Families 10/26/23

Scituate High School is hosting a "Military Showcase" on November 18, 2023, at 10:00 am. This is a great opportunity for students, parents, and families to learn more about what the military can offer. This is not a recruiting event.

Oftentimes, the initial thought regarding the military is participation in combat. However, fewer than 15% of active-duty military personnel participate in combat. This "Military Showcase" will discuss career, education, and financial opportunities within the military. For example, college can be a financial burden that is an enormous undertaking for students, parents, and families. Information on scholarship opportunities within military branches, like the ROTC program, will be provided. Please see the attached flyer below.

In addition to the military, there are many alternative options to college. For example, The South Shore Technical School has a "Career Technical Initiative" where any senior in good academic standing or an adult with a high school diploma can participate. This 13-week program provides high school seniors or adults with job skills and training for free. They also aid in job placement and apprenticeships upon completion of this program.

To learn more about alternative post-secondary options, please see the attached slideshow.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your student's school counselor at Hanover High School.

Thank you,
