Graduation FAQs

When is Graduation? Friday, May 29, 2026, at 6:30 pm

Where is Graduation? On the turf field at Hanover High School

When do the graduates need to be at HHS? Graduates must arrive by 5:30 pm

When can families/guests start arriving? We ask that no one arrive prior to 5:30 pm. Our maintenance and facilities department and other staff are working right up until the last minute, setting up and getting ready!

How long is the Graduation ceremony? The ceremony begins promptly at 6:30 pm and generally lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours.

What seating is provided? Seating on the turf field will be limited to 4 seats per family (no tickets needed). Other guests are most welcome to attend and may sit/stand in the grandstands, outside of the main seating area on the turf field, or along the fence outside of the track. There is plenty of room for additional guests at these locations.

Do we need tickets? Not for an outdoor ceremony. Tickets will be required only if graduation needs to move indoors due to inclement weather. Each graduate’s family will receive four tickets for an indoor ceremony. If there is any question about moving the ceremony indoors, a decision will be made late in the afternoon and communicated via email to students and parents. We will do everything possible to have the ceremony outside, including adjusting the time slightly, if necessary. 

Where is guest parking located? Parking will be available on the HHS campus in the parking lot and along the baseball/softball field driveway. There will also be parking at Cedar School. The Hanover Police Department will be assisting with parking. If any guest needs a ride from the parking area to the field, we will have a golf cart available to assist.  

Will there be handicap parking? Yes, handicapped parking is provided in the back parking lot of the school, near the turf field. Please reach out to Kara Kenney at [email protected] if you need special arrangements for a member of your party.

When is cap/gown pick-up and when are graduation rehearsals? Graduates must pick up their cap and gown on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm or Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Mandatory graduation rehearsals will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, and Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 9:00 am (seniors gather in the auditorium) and typically last 90 minutes to 2 hours. All students must be present at rehearsal. Please make sure that your student is on time for rehearsal. Graduates are not allowed to make alterations or add additional decorations to their robe. Graduates will be given guidance on what decorations are acceptable on their mortarboard (cap).  

Is there a photographer to capture the presentation of each diploma? Yes. Official photos are taken by GradImages. After the ceremony, proofs will be sent to your home email with information on how to purchase if you so choose. Candid photos will also be taken by Steve Ryerson, HPS photographer, and will be shared on the Hanover Public Schools Facebook page shortly after graduation.

Additional Information

We ask that there be no smoking on the turf field after the ceremony. As this is a state law, adhering to this request is greatly appreciated!
