Hanover High School Full Remote Day (Wednesday, April 14, 2021)

Once again, I want to take a moment to commend all the staff, faculty, and students who continue to uphold our school-wide safety measures.

As mentioned in yesterday’s communication, we were assessing the extent to which some athletic teams and reported social gatherings were contributing to an increase in positive cases and corresponding quarantines.  This assessment required extensive contact tracing.  Currently, we’ve worked through relevant athletic programs; however, we continue working with the information we’re receiving regarding ill-advised social gatherings that reportedly took place over the weekend.

Upon careful consideration of all aspects of the current situation, it’s necessary that we remain remote at least through tomorrow, Wednesday, April 14th.  Again, Hanover High School will remain in a full-remote learning environment for tomorrow, Wednesday, April 14th.

Like today, we’ll follow our same daily bell schedule and same lunch breaks, but we will do so in a remote capacity via Zoom.  Teachers will contact you with details regarding Zoom links, connectivity, and expectations.

Once again, our health department asks that all of us avoid any gatherings outside of immediate family as we work to contain and understand the current levels of contact.

If we are going to keep our schools open for the remaining months of school, we need to work together.  Moving forward, we are going to aggressively pursue any reports of social gatherings and activities that put our students and staff at risk.  This includes utilizing all school discipline options as well as working with law enforcement and local health officials whenever necessary.  As a community, we have worked too hard so that our students can return to learning and safely spending time with their friends in school.  There is an important difference between kids making bad choices and kids making bad choices with adults being aware and not acting. We need everyone to support each other and to do what is required to get us safely to the summer.

We’ll reach out as soon as we know anything more definitive.

That's it for now.  Be well.  Be safe.
