Hanover High School Mascot Update: Give Voice to the Naming of our New Mascot!

In the initial stages of our mascot-adoption process, we invited all members of the Hanover Community to give voice to the naming of our new mascot.  The community provided their best ideas for a new name, explained the characteristics they felt their suggested names embodied, and gave brief rationales as to why they believed we should adopt their suggested names.  Well, the results are in!!!

Your Submissions

We received nearly four hundred submissions, many repeating ideas, and we narrowed the field to 89 individual mascot-names.  After close examination of these suggestions, our mascot-adoption committee – consisting of students, faculty, and members of local community groups who work closely with the schools – selected 6 top-names.  Huge thank you to the Mascot Selection Working Group for their present and future representation and collaboration.  Now… we are prepared to make the top-mascot names public.  Want to know the finalists?  Watch this video:

Please know that the students in this video followed all health and safety guidelines.

Submit Your Ideas

Now that you know the names, we want your creative ideas for corresponding logos.  You can submit inspirational ideas for 1, 2, 3 – or all 6 of the finalist mascot names.  Using the link form below – and using all of the artistic, creative, and thoughtful passion you can muster – please submit your ideas for mascot logos along with the corresponding mascot name(s).  If you don’t fancy yourself an artist, find someone to draw, paint, or sketch an artistic rendering of your ideas on your behalf!  Again, be artistic, creative, and thoughtful – but most importantly, have fun!!!  Your idea could be the one to inspire THE FINAL MASCOT!

Submission Form

Submissions will be accepted now through Sunday, December 06, 2020.

Next Steps

  • Once collected, our committee will narrow the field to the top-three pairings; next, these pairings will be released for a community-wide vote.
  • Once tallied, we plan to reveal our chosen mascot on New Year’s Day!
  • As a potential first agenda item in the calendar year 2021, we’ll then submit our selection to the School Committee for final approval.

We are eagerly anticipating a new year, a new identity, and ultimately – a new mascot.

Finalize the Process and Move Forward with Branding

It’s our hope that together we can adopt, design, and implement a newly welcomed symbolic representation of our collective Hanover Pride.  It’s our hope that in the coming months we will embrace the new symbol of Hanover Public Schools.  It’s our hope that we will welcome an image representative of our deepest traditions, our enduring spirit, and our collective faith in the future of our public schools.

Looking forward to it!  Be warm.  Be safe.
