Back to School 2020-2021

I know it’s early, but I feel some fluctuating anxiety in the air – and, understandably so.  Considering this, I thought I’d send a brief note on some aspects of re-opening that may help to reduce said stress.

  • On remote days, students do NOT need to “attend” flex block.  They can use that time as “flexibly” as they need.  It’s an excellent opportunity.
  • On remote days, students do NOT need to “attend” Directed Studies.  They should use that time for that very purpose.
  • Students can only attend Directed Studies in another location with pre-approval from intended destination.
  • Flex Block most closely resembles directed studies; so, all policies in place for Directed Studies around such things as cellphone use and passes to other classes, for example, adhere to Flex Block.  Pertaining to those examples just mentioned, cellphone-use is allowed in Flex Block with teacher permission, and students can only attend the Flex Block period in another location with pre-approval from intended destination.
  • For purposes other than pre-approved appointments, one student only is allowed to leave the classroom at a time.
  • Directed Studies are held in the café, unless otherwise indicated.

Please enjoy the day, and I’ll circle back around later with further updates.

Be warm.  Be safe.
