Hanover High School News 9/4/20

September 4, 2020

I hope everyone is well, happy, and healthy.  I’m writing this morning to give you a brief update on a few items as we move closer to teaching and learning this year:

  • We are still on track to publish student schedules later this afternoon (Friday), including our Virtual Academy students.  We’ll be reaching out to our Academy students later this morning with a more detailed update.
  • We are moving forward with picture day this year, currently scheduled for next Tuesday, September 8th from 9:00 – 3:00 pm.  Each grade-level has been allotted a 90-minute window of time within which to get their pictures taken at the high school; furthermore, each class has been broken down alphabetically into 6 separate groups, each group being designated a fifteen-minute block of time within which to arrive.  These groupings can be found attached.  Please remember, groupings are necessary in order to stagger arrival, maintain social distancing, and adhere to safety guidelines.  Students should park in front of the school, and make their way along the left side of the building towards the courtyard.  They will receive further direction from that point.  (I’ll send more information early next week).
  • We’ll be providing a Freshmen Orientation prior to September 16th.  As well, we would like to provide some form of “orientation” for all students; however, there are several moving parts involved in the scheduling of these events, and those plans have yet to be finalized.  We’ll communicate any and all finalized details on “orientations” early next week.
  • In an effort to best meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all students, the counseling department has reorganized assignments. First, we enthusiastically welcome back former counselor Julie O’Neil!  Additionally, Mrs. Merrick has transitioned in responsibility from college and career counseling to full-time adjustment counseling.  Our college-and-career counselors, listed below, will be primarily supporting students academically, including – but not limited to – assistance in the attainment of our students’ individual college-and-career aspirations.  Counseling assignments for the 2020-2021 school year are listed here:
