Hanover High School News and Notes 4/26/21

I hope everyone had a restful and refreshing few days this past week.  Very much deserved.

We are finalizing plans for graduation and gathering details and guidelines for a potential senior prom.  I’ll be sending that information later today or early tomorrow.

In cooperation with the Hanover Police Department, we need to make some immediate adjustments regarding pick-up at the high school.  For safety reasons and beginning today, we cannot have any arrivals at the high school until 2:25 pm, as there will be no access to the driveway/property from 1:55 pm to 2:25 pm.  Additionally, HPD will not allow traffic to idle on Cedar St. prior to 2:25 pm.  Idling traffic forces west-bound traffic to pass on the east-bound side of travel, which is our main safety concern.  Over the next few weeks, any parents idling and taking up a lane of travel will be asked to move along.  This first week will be an "education period" regarding these changes; therefore, HPD will refrain from the issuance of citations.  Going forward, however, HPD will strictly enforce any idling of traffic as it is a serious safety concern.

Again, from 1:55 pm to 2:25 pm, we’ll be placing cones at the front entrance at Cedar Street as well as the entrance from Cedar Drive, near the student parking.  Please be advised that no one will be able to access the school property from any direction during this time (including the rear entrance).

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to work to keep the school grounds as safe as possible.

That’s it for now.  Be warm.  Be safe.
