Hanover High School News and Notes 4/30/21

It’s been a wild week, but it feels nice – as the weather is turning for the better, students continue to prioritize academics, spring sports have sprung, and advanced placement exams are right around the corner.  I love this time of year – but… things can move fast; therefore, I want to take this moment to connect with you before the month of May… slips away.

As you know, we have an extremely busy month before us, a month replete with obligations, temptations, and graduations.  We have senior prom, senior week, special senior days, senior awards, senior scholarships, graduation rehearsals, and a JUNE graduation.  Nice!  With all of these wholeheartedly sought-after privileges and recognitions in mind, the month of May requires from our seniors a commitment to academics, a commitment to the school – to families, friends, and oneself – and a commitment to sound judgment and good decisions.  I recently met with all of our seniors (together as a group on the turf field) and reviewed the importance of making good choices.  As well, we spoke about our social probation policy should a transgression involving drugs or alcohol occur.  Moving ahead, good decisions for seniors are not only important, but imperative.  I thank you in advance for your support and encouragement of these good decisions.

On Monday, please anticipate our annual information that outlines the expectations for the coming days and that reviews some of the more important dates and events for our seniors.  Please be sure to take a look.

A quick note regarding Advanced Placement testing beginning next week:

I’ve attached the complete schedule of exams for this spring, including all essential information for each assessment.

I want to reiterate that all of our AP teachers consistently and vigorously teach right up to the moment/day of their respective tests.  With this in mind, students are permitted to miss other classes on exam day/days; however, students taking multiple AP classes are encouraged (schedule permitting) to attend any AP class wherein the administration of the respective exam remains pending.

Following your lead, I care deeply for each and every one of our students, and I will continue to encourage our seniors to use sound judgment and to make good decisions as we navigate our way through the excitement and the whirlwind that is the month of May.

With utmost sincerity, it is a daily privilege to teach and to learn in the company of some of the finest people I have ever met.  Thank you for this opportunity!

That’s it for now.  Be warm.  Be safe.
