Hanover High School News and Notes 6/13/21

Last week, Sheryl Wade - teacher and advisor - hung her own Pride Flag on behalf of the Diversity Club/GSA of HHS and in support of Pride Month.  The Flag, sadly and sorrowfully, was torn down last Friday after school.

The incident necessarily remains an ongoing investigation, and please allow us the space, time, and methodology to thoroughly and carefully review this situation and act accordingly.  Please know that those responsible are being held accountable.

During this time, join me in tempering our emotional responses, and work together to promote inclusivity and acceptance; most importantly, let our support and celebration be absent of any thought or action that may potentially be seen as retaliatory and/or erroneously condemning in nature.

Since the incident, Ms. Wade has been positively overwhelmed by the people who have reached out to her in the last few days to show their support and love! It has reminded her that “HHS is a strong, proud, loving community where we gracefully allow each other to be who we truly are!”  She thanks you all for this!

With that being said, I have received a donated replacement flag, and we will be hanging this flag tomorrow - to remain until the end of the school year.

With great respect and appreciation...

Be warm.  Be kind.  Be safe.
