HHS Library News

As Term 2 winds down, students who have Library books checked out will receive reminder notes through their ELA classes to return the materials they no longer need. If there are any questions, they should contact Mrs. McHugh. Lost or damaged books are subject to a $10 replacement fee.

We continue to encourage students to bring their personal or school-issued laptops and chargers to school daily. Many classes use the devices regularly and students who forget theirs for the day must borrow one from the Main Office, taking away vital class time. In order to do this, students are required to leave their cellphone in the office until they return what they borrowed. Any student who needs a school-issued Chromebook or no longer needs one they previously borrowed should see Mrs. McHugh.

The Hanover High School Library website has an array of resources to help students with research, class assignments and book selection - including free access to online databases. If you haven't already, please check it out!

World Languages Department

Our French teachers successfully organized a French Exchange program whereby 23 students from France and their teachers stayed with Hanover families from October 12-26, 2023. The two weeks were filled with tours, athletic events, educational activities, and cultural experiences. The second half of the exchange will take place from April 10-22, 2024. Twenty-one students from HHS will visit a school in France, Saint François d'Assise at La Roche-sur-Yon. Our students are looking forward to perfecting their language skills, learning about how French families live and seeing part of the country. Bonne chance.

Hanover High School Health Services

I hope you all had a restful break and a healthy start to the New Year from the HHS Health Services! We've seen a variety of illnesses throughout the community over the last few weeks. Please use this as a reminder that the best way to prevent the spread of illness is with good hand hygiene and staying home when sick. Our school policy states that if a child develops a fever 100.0 or higher, or GI symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea - they should remain out of school until fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication or 24 hours without further GI episodes. COVID-19 protocols remain that anyone testing positive for COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and can resume usual activities on day 6, providing they have a marked improvement in symptoms and have been fever-free without medication for 24 hours; anyone continuing to test positive on day 6 or later is recommended, but not required, to mask until day 10. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Assistant Principal Mrs. Rooney

AP Exam emails with payment information have been sent to all students and parents/guardians. Payments can be made via the Unipay link on the email or by bringing in a check to the Main Office made out to “The Town of Hanover.” All payments are due by March 1, 2024. Please note that each exam is $89; however, if you need assistance paying for the exams and qualify for reduced fees, you will be receiving a separate email from Mrs. Rooney. You may also make several payments over time using the Unipay link.

It is VERY important that your student is not only registered in the class here at HHS, but they are also registered to take the exam via MyAP. If your student is not properly enrolled in MyAp and have indicated “Yes” to order the exam, they will not have an exam ordered. It is expected that all students take the AP exam in May. Those who are unable to take the exam or wish not to take the exam will be receiving honors credit. If your student needs help logging in using their MyAP login, they must contact College Board via the student/parent line. Mrs. Rooney is unable to change or edit login/password information.

Students who wish to receive accommodations must have those accommodations approved through College Board. Please contact your student’s guidance counselor or special education liaison if you have any questions regarding College Board accommodations. Any other questions do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Rooney at jrooney@hanoverschools.org.
