Hanover High School News and Updates 3/25/22

A few points that we would like to cover with all of you as we close out March and near the end of Term 3:

  • The HHS Community Service requirement is being waived for this school year. Thank you to any students who may have already fulfilled this requirement.
  • We have been experiencing an uptick in the number of student tardies every morning, so we please ask that everyone begin their day a bit earlier so all students are in their 1st-period class prior to the beginning of morning announcements.
  • We have instituted a 7:00 am detention time for students who may not be able to stay for after-school detention, please discuss this option with your child.
  • Please remind your student drivers that they should not be parking in the designated “Visitors” spots.  We receive multiple complaints from visitors when these spots are not available.
  • A separate email pertinent to the Class of 2022 and End of the Year events will be coming out later today, stay tuned!

MCAS Update

  • HHS administered the English MCAS exam on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and we are very proud of our sophomores who took the exam very seriously and productively. Thank you for your support.
  • As a reminder, sophomores will next take the Math MCAS on May 17th and 18th; freshmen will take the Biology MCAS on June 7th and 8th. Additional information will be coming out in a few weeks for those respective exams.

HHS Library Update

From the HHS Library (and Susan McHugh), celebrate the boys' hockey state title with some great hockey reads!

Check out the latest from The Hawk, which is currently working on a commemorative print issue for seniors:

Also please read our student writing and arts magazine, The Prism, advised by Steve Henderson.

Respectfully,

Matthew Mattos, HHS Principal
Matthew Plummer, Curriculum Director
