Hanover High School Physical Education Updates 10/27/23

The Hanover High School Physical Education Department is writing to update you on a couple of upcoming things.

On Monday, November 20, 2023, and Tuesday, November 21, 2023, all students will receive hands-only CPR instruction, along with EpiPen and Heimlich training.

Anyone who is interested in getting Heartsaver CPR certified should see a PE teacher. The course is taught in a blended format. Blended learning offers the convenience of digital learning. Students have the flexibility to take the cognitive portion of the course at their own pace, location, and on their own schedule. Once that is complete, students will make arrangements with the PE staff to attend an Instructor-led, hands-on session that focuses on meaningful coaching, skills practice, and skills testing. The cost of the course is $16.00 and the cost for the e-card is $20.00, making it $36.00 total. It seems crazy that the e-card is more than the course, but we confirmed the information with the company we are affiliated with.

Also, there is a field trip opportunity for all juniors and seniors. The trip is to Webster Timberlanes Bowling Alley in Abington, MA. The trip is designed to expose students to a fun, inexpensive lifetime activity, which is native to New England, with hopes of gaining future interest to pursue the sport.

The trip is on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 11:00-2:00 pm. The cost is $25.00 per person and covers the following: bus transportation, shoe rental, bowling, and food. Pizza will be served. Anyone interested should see a PE teacher for a permission slip. First come, first served.

We’ll continue to update you as the year goes on. Thank you for your time and attention to this email.

Respectfully,

The Physical Education Department
