Hanover High School Snow Day Scenarios 12/16/20

As you know, there is a major storm predicted for this evening into tomorrow.  In response, you can expect 3 possible scenarios:

  1. The weather could potentially wreak havoc on the area, requiring the issuance of an official snow day; in that case, we’ll make-up the day in June.
  2. The storm could steer away from the area, allowing us to attend school in-session as usual.
  3. The storm keeps us out of school, but the decision is made to learn remotely at home.

In the event of scenario 3, a remote-learning snow day, we’ll adhere to the following schedule:

Period

Period 1

10:00

10:30

Period 2

10:35

11:05

Period 3

Given the numerous, unpredictable elements that can accompany this potential remote-learning snow day, the above “emergency schedule” will provide some commonality and clear points of communication and connectivity.  That said, the degree to which synchronous or asynchronous lessons are provided will be left to the autonomy of the individual teacher and in accordance with the relevant needs and circumstances of each individual class.

Earlier today, teachers were in contact with their students, and they communicated class plans and expectations in the event of any scenario.

Ideally, on Thursday, we’ll all have full power, internet access, and the ability to connect virtually with our classes; if not, we’ll adapt.  If for any reason a student is unable to attend to the expectations of a class, they should make every effort to contact the teacher.  If a teacher is unable to facilitate learning due to loss of power, internet, or some other reason, the teacher will make every effort to inform the class and to notify me, the principal.

On Friday, December 18th – no matter what scenario is used on Thursday – we’ll resume our regular hybrid schedule with the Gold cohort attending school in-person and the Blue cohort learning remotely.

That’s it for now.  More than ever, please be warm.  Please be safe.
