Hanover Public Schools Health Office Update 1/11/24

Hanover Health

Happy New Year! I am sure it will come as no surprise that we are seeing a lot of illness at Hanover Public School this winter. Upper respiratory infections, COVID-19, strep, and conjunctivitis are prevalent across all of our schools right now. We are working with the Hanover Facilities Department to provide increased cleaning of high-touch surfaces, and your school nurses are requesting that classrooms with clusters of illness be thoroughly cleaned using specialized equipment.

Frequent handwashing and staying home when you are ill are our greatest tools in fighting illness. If your student is sick with a fever, gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, and or diarrhea), or feeling unable to participate in all of the school day activities, please keep them home. Your student should be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine before returning to school. As always, feel free to call your school nurse with any questions.

Bus Safety

We are working with our transportation company (Ingle Bus) to provide ongoing training for drivers to respond to a medical emergency on the bus. If there is student health information you would like to share with your driver, please talk with your school nurse first and the information can be communicated to the bus company with any additional instructions that may be necessary.
